Save The Earth!

Has any environmental scientist (the world's next most noble profession) won the nobel prize?
Has GP topics changed drastically over the last 50 years?
How can one hate the hot hot sun after devastating floods and hazy rainy days?
The silted rivers, when can they be dredged?
No Money?
'Cashflow management' should be a compulsory subject for degrees in public administration. No?
Oh dear, did someone say build better dams?
When major rivers (can't tell where the river bank is) remain silted?
Why not ask the those who need the sand most to take them for free?
Do high ranking ministers featured on speedboats in the middle of town - look ridiculous?

Drop thy still dews of quietness
Till all our strivings cease
Take from our souls, the strains and stress
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of thy peace
Breathe through the heats of our desire
Thy coolness, and thy balm;
Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake, wind and fire
O still small voice of calm

Does Anybody Care?

Sorry, can't seem to post anything more pleasant about what i see on the way to work, as promised in the last post. Unless i look upwards! The sky is clearing from the haze of weeks. Swear i saw stars in the sky few nights ago. When i was six, we would write a journal every day in school before we start the day. 'Today is a sunny/cloudy/rainy day'. Just have your pick. How did 'Hazy' creep into the vocabulary? Sorry all children. Hope you all will grow up to be better stewards of God's Creation. Cheer up! We can still tell the Good News!

Near Where I Work

Between the car park and the workplace, there is a lot to see. I see a large drain hole in the middle of a junction with the iron railings damaged or gone, and passersby with a heart have stuck bright plastic bumpers into them. I see more drainage holes that are clogged and the water is black but support ecosystem. Strange but I see a park sweeper picking up litter randomly. Why do we need to sweep up litter at public places? Litter shouldn't even be there. The petty traders stalls are new but unused. Vagrant use them at nights. And oh, I have to take an uncivil short cut *clamber over ledge* so that I can by pass the road spread out every morning with fresh droppings of birds of every specie. They fly home in the evenings to roost on the giant trees as if its too expensive to roost across at the nearby island where I am sure they find their daily provision. The footways design are pedestrian unfriendly. As i wait for a chance to cross the road, almost without fail, there comes the truck that has just unloaded its cargo of live-birds. *splutter* *cough* i have to turn away and miss my chance to cross the road. Tomorrow, i determine that i should look out for only the pleasant details..

Spot the Mistake

Aarrgh! See Oct 23, 2006 issue of TIME. See 'Religion' featuring Andrew Sullivan's 'When Not Seeing Is Believing'. See if you can spot the spelling mistake. Its just between an 'a' and a 'u'. TIME's editors - repent.

Mode: Thankful

"We do not need more to be thankful, we need to be more thankful".

Someone asked if one can today just off-the-cuff, list down 10 items one would want to thank God for? Realise how often we switch off from a 'thankful' mode, particularly when all we see in the dailies are crimes of theft; greed; hate; disobedience; envy; intimidation; etc
